The 2024 OhioHealth Grandview Yard Half & Quarter Marathon and Purple Heart 5K benefitting the Upper Arlington Foundation took place on Sunday, August 18, bringing together runners, walkers, and supporters from across the community.
The event, which has become a summer staple in the local running calendar, saw over 2,000 participants take to the streets of Grandview Heights, Upper Arlington, Ohio State campus and finish at the Ray E. DeGraw Park in Grandview Yard.
The three events kicked off early in the morning with mild summer temperatures. Course Support included over 50+ OhioHealth medical team members, EMS units, the America Red Cross, 75+ Law Enforcement Officials, eight Aid Stations, on-course marshalls & personnel and over 200 volunteers to keep participants safe throughout the event.
After their 13.1, 6.55 and 3.1 mile tours of the surrounding neighborhoods, runners and walkers were welcomed back to the Finish Line with finisher medals, Panera Bagels, water and Powerade, bananas and OhioHealth cooling towels to cool them off after conquering their summer goals.
Participants then made their way to the Byers Xtra Mile Finish Line party featuring complimentary Jet’s Pizza, Condado Margaritas, White Claw, Athletic Brewing Non-Alcoholic beer and music by AJ Angelo. The post-race party also featured the Diamond Cellar VIP Experience with catering by Cameron Mitchell Premier Events and celebration cocktails.
This was the event's third year, which saw a 40% growth. Thank you to the event partners for your support. Thank you to the Grandview Heights, Upper Arlington and Columbus communities for welcoming the event. Thank you to the participants for joining another celebration of the healthy, active lifestyle.
The Grandview Yard Half Marathon (13.1 miles), Quarter Marathon (6.55 miles) & Purple Heart 5K (3.1 miles) starts and finishes at Ray E. DeGraw Park in Grandview Yard and feature tours of Grandview Heights, Marble Cliff, Upper Arlington and The Ohio State University. Afterwards, participants celebrate at the Byers Xtra Mile Finish Line Party and Diamond Cellar VIP Experience.

Diamond Cellar is again offering FREE Medal Engraving for all finishers of the OhioHealth Grandview Yard Half & Quarter Marathon and Purple Heart 5K. Simply take your medal to the Diamond Cellar's Sawmill Road location at 6280 Sawmill Rd. Dublin, OH 43017, anytime after the race to receive FREE Medal Engraving. The Diamond Cellar is the Official Jeweler of M3S Sports and the OhioHealth Grandview Yard Half & Quarter Martahon.
Course Note
The Grandview Yard Half Marathon course is open and fully supported for 3 hours, 45 minutes or a pace of 17 minutes, 10 seconds per mile. If a participant is not on a pace to finish in 3 hours, 45 minutes when they reach 8.9 miles, they will be re-routed to a course that is 11 miles. Any re-routed participant will receive an Official Finisher's Medal.

Hofbräuhaus Columbus will host Panera Bread Rapid Packet Pick Up for the Grandview Yard Half & Quarter Marathon in 2024.
Packet Pick Up will be held Friday, August 16 and through Saturday, August 17 at Hofbräuhaus Columbus, 800 Goodale Blvd, Columbus, OH 43212.
Please pick up your packet, including your event shirt and race bib, at Hofbräuhaus Columbus if you register before race day. A friend or family member may pick up your packet for you.
